Happy holidays!

In an entry posted earlier today Kiyo revealed that he recently shot a PV for 『MARIA』. In an entry posted yesterday Kiyo posted an image preview of the PV.

Awesome.
So very awesome...
It's becoming increasingly apparent to me that my days of importing Japanese music are coming to an end. It feels like it's at that point already, but I'm still looking forward to one more release this year. I have this ominous feeling that things are about to get a whole lot worse.
The jacket for Kiyo's upcoming DVD release THE 40th BIRTHDAY has gone up over at his label page. :) It looks really nice. According to the description on the page it will also include the KUROYUME announcement. :D

I'm a little late with this entry, but I had my headphone issue a few weeks back and a few distractions here and there since then. I was tempted to do a full proper review but those require so much effort. :P

It's a great song like pretty much every Kiyo song, but it's also my least favorite track of the the set of new songs he released this fall. It's the most fitting song for a single so I can understand why it was chosen over the others. It really gets my spirits up whenever I listen to it.

This is my least favorite cover song that Kiyo has recorded since going solo. It's so overly produced and different from the original. It's as if Kiyo really wanted to leave his own signature on it. He had done an amazing job with the covers until I heard this one. I still think it's fun but it doesn't live up to the original. I don't know why he didn't just stick to the source material and just let his voice take over. That would have been just fine. I've seen a few seconds from the clip on the FOREVER LOVE DVD and he does a performance of this song that sounds really close to original and it sounds fucking great. Maybe, this is something that will grow on me eventually.

The is the best song on the single! I fucking love it. JUBILEE is to loved what CURTAIN is to EMILY, although the difference here is that I actually do really love loved. :P It should have been the title track but obviously loved was the more logical choice. Kiyo's voice is so addictive on here.

I expected this track to be a studio recording of the RHYTHMLESS & PERSPECTIVE version of the song that appeared on the DVD. It's more comparable to the studio recording that appears on the single with the only major difference being a longer intro. I really wish he would have gone with the other option, but it's still a nice version of the song.

The DVD is fantastic. Both loved and SHIJOU NO YURIKAGO appear on the track list. The loved performance is the single version of the song. The SHIJOU NO YURIKAGO performance is especially cool because it wasn't on the recent DVD, so it's nice to get a live RHYTHMLESS & PERSPECTIVE version of that song, and it also features cellolist Robin Dupuy on it. I don't recall him appearing on the recent DVD, so it's a pleasure to see him perform alongside Kiyo.

Oh god, FIRE AGE is amazing! I believe it's CRO-MAGS' best album to date. Lipo's review of the album is a definite must read as she's infinitely better than me at reviewing things and perfectly expresses the same reaction I have to this album.
Btw, how freaking cool is the packaging? It's a large matchbook. :D The cute drawings in there are fucking great!
FIRE!
FIRE!
FIRE!
He changed after with the fire!
:D

lol

Nice dancing HIROTO :D

I fucking love NYAO NYAO NYAO. I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MARCY's guitar is so freaking great on this song, especially at the end where it sounds like it's screaming out NYAO NYAO NYAO. I also really love the use of cowbell and tambourine on this track too. It's so cool... So much fun. :D

Another awesome track off the album... BOUFURA :D

:P

渋滞 (JUUTAI) is a new song and it sounds fucking awesome! I love the attitude. The performance on the DVD is freaking awesome too. HIROTO's harmonica in the middle gives me the chills. It's so cool! :D

Here's the lovely DOKUBO KURASHI. :D The chorus kicks ass! :D

Yes! That's KAIGANSEN up there! :D I wonder if that NICO NICO DOUGA upload made them consider finally including it on the DVD. I know Kiyo posted an entry in his blog around the time the video went up with the title 'KAIGANSEN', but it was a closed entry so I'm not sure what he said. It's also great to see I KNOW, JUBILEE, BARA IRO NO YUME, and SAMIDARE included in the set too. Every single song he performed that night is making it into the DVD. :D
In an entry posted a few days ago Kiyo revealed that the upcoming DVD will be called 『THE 40th BIRTHDAY』. He also revealed that the editing on the DVD has been finished. It's scheduled to be released on 12/24.
Kiyo's webpage at UNIVERSAL MUSIC JAPAN has been updated with a new layout and both the jacket and tracklist of the upcoming 『SINGLES』 release. The album is going to be released on 12/24 on Nayutawave Records. I'm surprised to see RINNE, MELODIES, and AIBU on the album considering all three of those singles were released on Kiyo's SONY label. Strangely enough, LAST SONG-SAIGO NO UTA- has been excluded from the tracklist.
